If you are looking to get a little nature, Turner Falls is a perfect Dallas getaway. It’s about two hours north of Flower Mound – an easy drive to experience hiking, swimming, rock hopping, and exploring. We camped in the RV area but I believe you can rent cabins as well. We had a great time hiking, but I think our kids enjoyed playing in the water the most. I admit that it did scare me – the rocks are slippery, so I was pretty paranoid that they were going to get hurt. Thankfully no one did! I believe now they require life jackets for kids, so if you plan to go then be prepared.

We went in October and the weather was actually perfect. The water felt refreshing and it wasn’t super hot. It also wasn’t crowded, so that was nice too.
