We love it when our couples fill their weddings with lots of things that are really personal to them. Weddings are the perfect opportunity to celebrate everything that makes your relationship unique and our couples certainly know how to throw an awesome celebration. From the moment Lucy and Dan talked to us about their love of the hard-boiled detective novels of Raymond Chandler and their desire to marry this (pun intended) with some awesome noir-inspired wedding styling – we just knew we were in for something special.

The day started with Jaye meeting Lucy at a beautiful little cottage in Westow, while I (Matt) met up with Dan at the amazing Griffon Forest Lodges that are located just a stone’s throw from Sandburn Hall. Dan was in great spirits in the morning and quickly changed into a morning suit that would have made Raymond Chandler proud. It was the perfect start to a day filled with some really cool Yorkshire Wedding Photography and Dan struck quite the dashing figure as we stopped on the way over to Sandburn Hall for some woodland portraits.

Sandburn Hall is such a unique venue – combining the charms of a barn style wedding with all the amenities and comforts of a in idyllic Yorkshire golf course. I always think that Sandburn Hall Wedding photography looks particularly stunning due to the massive arched windows of the Grand Hall that flood the ceremony area with beautiful natural light and provide breathtaking views over the surrounding lakes and woodland.

As Yorkshire wedding photographers we are in love with the beauty of Yorkshire and the amazing look each season brings to the photos. Sandburn Hall wedding photography in the little onsite garden looks fantastic in autumn and what better way for Lucy to really show off that dress than to have a quick spin with the beautiful yellow and orange of the turning leaves as her backdrop?

It’s awesome when best men really own their speeches and go all out to deliver something truly special. Dan’s best man was in costume and ready to perform – completely nailing the hard-boiled dialogue of a Raymond Chandler novel and delivering his whole speech as though he were a character from one of the detective books. As Raymond Chandler said ‘I certainly admire people who do things’….. apparently including putting Dan in handcuffs!

A super fun dance floor rounded off a perfect day filled with love and laughter – this is what Sandburn Hall wedding photography is all about.

Lucy & Dan, you smashed it!
