French Rooftops

Thanks for taking a little time out of your busy day to take a look at this image - it's part of a competition run HERE that covers four categories and I have chosen to enter this in the Rooftops theme.
I always like to get to place that might give you a different perspective on life and I climbed high above the small town of Concarneau in Brittany to shoot this view over the rooftops of your Typical French fishing village.
Below the streets teamed with tourists, thronging between the small souvenir shops and food outlets, fighting for space on the narrow cobbled alley ways, whilst the sun shone down and improved their tans.
High above them, I sat and took in the breeze and salty air and looked around to see what might be interesting. The small boats in the harbour made for your typical seaside view, but I was more interested in the narrow spaces between the stone walls and what might lie beyond them.
I explored further and discovered a small house with its wooden shutters, but one every window sill was a small plaster sculpture, animals and even a small boy sat their looking out towards the sea. The tourists below missed all this but for me these little explorations make for a much better trip than just doing the typical stuff.
Whether the photograph succeeds in the competition or not, this was a magical day in the summer sunshine and it's excellent to share it with a wider audience, so if it has inspired you to go out and explore more, then that is just brilliant!
