Unbelievable Transformation Of A Starving Dog At The Brink Of Death

Recently, a 2-year old Starving Dog was rescued by TOLFA (Tree Of Life For Animals) in Ajmer, Rajasthan. TOLFA is an animal hospital and rescue centre set up in 2005, in Pushkar, Rajasthan, by a British veterinary nurse – Rachel Wright, hailing from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

How the rescue happened?

A passer-by spotted a Starving dog with almost no muscle to its bones. He immediately called TOLFA helpline. The rescue team from TOLFA responded quickly and arrived on the spot. They found the dog emaciated with her eyes almost sunk deep in the skull. They took her to their care center.

When she arrived at the clinic, the staff named her Birdie due to her condition that resembled a fragile and vulnerable baby bird.

After diagnosis, she was found to be suffering from severe mange and a viral disease called Distemper, that affects the nervous and respiratory system.

Jemma Sadler, a spokesperson for TOLFA, said,

“She was found in a shocking condition. She was dehydrated and starving, and her eyeballs were totally sunk into her skull. It is incredibly difficult to treat Distemper disease because it is a virus that doesn’t respond to antibiotics.”

The only way to treat this disease is to give a lot of love, support, and regular IV fluids. By the care and love of team, Birdie made a remarkable recovery.

This kind of turnaround shows that anything is possible in this world with proper care and lots of love.
