Cat Travel: Neko no Jikan Amemura – Osaka Cat Cafe Part 1

Hi everyone,

As many of you know we went to Japan again this year and of course as part of our annual trip we had to check out some of the Cat Cafes that we hadn’t been to so far!

The first one on our list was one of the newer Cafes in Osaka, this is the newer second branch of Neko no Jikan which Laura visited back in 2014. This particular branch is called Amemura and is in a district of Osaka full of hip clothing shops so not surprisingly attracts a younger crowd of visitors.

It wasn’t easy to spot this Cafe at first as it was actually on the 1st floor of a building!

Luckily there were signs downstairs to point you the right way up the stairs, once you find these you certainly know that you are going the right way!

We arrived at this Cafe early so were lucky enough to be the first people in and get to take photos prior to other people arriving!

Even better it was feeding time! So we got to see all of the cats come out of their various hiding spaces.😀

I’m always astonished that so many different cats eat peacefully (mostly) near each other in these places!

One of our favourites during the feeding time was of course the cute little black cat as she reminded us of Nubia!

Certainly as ferocious as our little one… LOL

There were also a number of Persian Cats in the Cafe of which many are rescue cats due to their owners not wanting a cat with a “disability”.

As cute as this little white and black one may look due to the shape of his head / mouth he struggled a lot eating, which apparently is why many Persian cats in Japan end up on the streets or re-homing centres. People don’t like them drooling all over / being very messy eaters and in some cases needing to have their noses cleaned all the time. (Chronic “cold” syndrome)

None the less this Cat Cafe has re-homed many of these cats and is looking after them to ensure their well-being.

And this little fella has gotten very skilled at using his nose to push the food in!

And last but not least important a picture of one of Iain’s favourites cats!

This particular breed is called a Cornish Rex and is best known for its very short but soft fur.

Below you can see a map for directions to get to this Cafe.

More details can be found on their website here. (In Japanese)

We hope you enjoyed the first look at the Osaka Cat Cafe – Neko no Jikan and are looking forward to more photos of the resident kitties.😀
