Hello again, today I am going to be talking about the time when we decided that the dogs (excluding Honey), needed new a new bed.

Time for some new Basset beds..

Up until now, the dogs were sharing a small dog bed with multiple sheets and materials on it. One day, while my mom was at the dump she spotted a small, leather bed type thing and thought that maybe one of the dogs could use that and they would not be squished any more. So, she took it home and put in the corner for one of the dogs. Immediately, Buzzy had gone over to it and claimed it as his. It was a perfect fit for him. I wondered though, if Bumble would get jealous at all, but he seemed happy that he now had a bed all to himself without Buzzy.

It didn’t last very long though as after a couple of weeks, we started to notice that Buzzy wasn’t spending as much time in his new bed. I guessed that maybe he was back to sharing with Bumble as the weather was getting colder and the bed was made out of leather. My thoughts were wrong as I discovered one evening when I went down to feed the dogs and I saw that Bumble had taken up residence in Buzzy’s new bed. Poor Buzzy was lying in the other bed looking very sad and upset. Meanwhile Bumble was unfazed by the arrangement. He was just looking for the food that I had for them. I couldn’t believe my eyes and so I began to try to switch them around. This tactic soon failed as Bumble was clearly clued into what I was doing and quickly sat down in Buzzy’s new bed again. It was hopeless. I soon found out from my sister that Bumble was the dominant one in their little pack. Buzzy was more aggressive but Bumble was in charge.

It wasn’t until my mm was back in the dump did she find a solution: a couch for the both of them! It was a very strange concept for us to receive. We all were picturing quite a large couch.

• It was small and it would fit perfectly in their room (utility room). Frankly, I thought it was a bit late to get them, considering their age, but then again it would stop the dogs from fighting over the beds.
• So, as soon as the weekend rolled around, my dad went down to the dump with my brother to get the couch. It was a tight fit in my granddad’s trailer, but they got it home.

It took some effort but we got the couch into their room. But, we got there and it fit perfectly. Once we had it ready, we got the dogs to  come and see if they liked it.

• They started sniffing it like mad and soon both of them jumped up onto the couch.
• There was a bit of nose bumping , but they soon settled in and got comfortable.
• Honey was wondering as to what all the commotion was so, she ran down the stairs and nosed her way into the utility room. Honey hadn’t been down in the utility room since the puppies were born.
• To this day, they both share it but it is Bumble who mainly has control over who sleeps there. For the most part, Buzzy sleeps in his leather bed and is perfectly happy.
