Things you need to know before you file a cargo insurance claim

In case of the damage or loss of your freight
1. Examine the shipping container to find out the amount of loss or damage incurred to your freight.
2. Record the impairment or mislay of the cargo or even a part of it on the delivery receipt and retain a copy for yourself that will be required when you file an insurance claim.
3. Report the misplacement or mutilation immediately to the nearest insurance official so that they could send a surveyor to scrutinize the loss or damages sustained.
4. File a written claim against your freight carriers who are liable for the loss or damage caused to your shipment. The claim should have the details of the damage caused and a demand to compensate for the loss encountered.
5. Keep all the documents required for shipping ready at your hands.
