Baby Sleep Training: How to Get Your Baby to Sleep on their Own

Have you recently been blessed with a baby? If yes, then there must be about a million questions running in your mind on how to properly take care of your Baby.

Being a new parent you must be very protective of your child and would want to be with them almost every minute of the day. This involves holding your baby in your arms.

Most parents face the problem of their baby not being able to sleep unless they are in their parents’ arms. Parents question how they can make their newborn babies Fall Asleep in their cribs on their own. This is more commonly know as baby sleep training.

As there are many times when a baby would wake up in the middle of the night and would keep crying until one of the parents would come to sooth the baby so they could go back to sleep.

What can you do to help your child fall Asleep without being held? If you’re interested to know the answer, then keep on reading!

Keep Them Active during the Day

If your child isn’t doing anything during the day and lies down for most of the time the less chance that they would be tired enough to fall asleep at night.

Therefore, if you want your newborn baby to fall asleep without being held then you need to engage them in several activities during the day so when night time comes they are so tired that they end up falling asleep on their own as soon as their back touches the mattress of their crib.

You don’t have to tire them out completely but a few fun activities won’t hurt them. You can also take them out for a walk in their stroller. Haven’t bought a stroller for your baby yet? Don’t worry you can check out truthful stroller reviews to find a durable stroller for your baby which is worth its price.

Make Enough Space for the Baby

One common mistake that most parents do is that they keep so many stuffed toys in their baby’s crib thinking that they can cuddle with them during the night and sleep better. Well, this is extremely wrong.

Not only will this make the baby uncomfortable during the night as there isn’t much space for them in the crib but it also increases the chance of the baby getting suffocated which can make them end up crying and the cycle would continue where you would have to come and soothe the baby by holding him or her in your arms until they fall asleep.

Therefore, make sure that you don’t put more than one stuffed toy in the crib at night so the baby has enough space to fall asleep in a peaceful environment.

Lay Them Down While They Are Still Awake

What most parents do is that they rock the baby in their arms until the baby falls asleep and then put them in the crib. Babies are prone to easily notice when their environment changes.

So when you lay them down in their crib from your arms they will get the feeling that that they are being ‘abandoned’ and they would wake up and start crying too.

So if you want your baby to have a peaceful night sleep then lay them down in their crib while they are still awake and sit with them until they eventually fall asleep.

Make Them Ready for Bed Time

One of the reasons why babies can’t sleep is because they are not completely prepared to fall asleep. Maybe they are still hungry or their diaper needs a change. Therefore, make sure to feed them and change their diaper before putting them to bed.

These are some of the tips that can help you make your baby fall asleep without being held. One of the most important things to know is that babies can only fall asleep if they are in a peaceful and comfortable environment, therefore, don’t forget to dim the lights and open the windows so that fresh air comes in their room.
