Cars was the very first Movie I took my oldest to see in the movie theater. He was just a toddler and I was nervous about how he would do in the theater.

But he LOVED it. Lightning Mcqueen became his favorite character and he was constantly shouting “KA-CHOW!” (not in the theater- but afterwards). For the next couple years, it was easy to suggest a gift idea to relatives: anything Cars related. We decorated his room in a Cars theme and the DVD played on an endless loop. From clothes to toys to potty training pull-ups and even bikes- it was all Cars, all the time.

And oh, the joy when got to “meet” Lightning McQueen at Disney World- my older two went running over as soon as it was their turn (I may have had to hold them back until it was their turn).

And while my oldest eventually moved on from that phase, he had two younger brothers who took their turn with Cars mania. Truthfully, sometimes even my husband and I still will randomly quote lines from the movie (particularly “He did what in his cup?”).

It’s kind of wild to think that first movie came out 11 year ago. Now that Cars 3 will be out in theaters this June, it takes me back to when my boys were little. And they still want to see this new movie!
