Baby’s Day Out

With summer looming around the corner many parents and families are going to be venturing outside to enjoy the weather as much as possible. The sun brings with it more opportunity to get out and explore instead of being stuck indoors, so why not have a day out with your child?

You can go for a picnic, head down to your nearest seaside or hang out for lunch at a local cafe, securing a spot on the outside tables so you can bathe in the suns rays.

But what do you on days like this? We here at prams.net understand that keeping organised when you’ve got a little one to take care of can be difficult, so we’re here to help you stay on track and stress free, never forgetting anything when you venture out for the day. We can’t ensure you’ll definitely not forget anything though, that’s up to you! Keep reading to let us help you with some ideas about what to do and how to organise yourself for the day and future days out.

Before you do anything, you need a sturdy and durable pram to help with carrying all of your things – especially if you’re going on a shopping trip. Why not try the Chicco Trio S3 Activ 3 Pram? This pram is stable, durable and flexible with a lockable front wheel so wherever you are, you can be certain that any hill or large gust of wind isn’t going to blow anything away. It also has a huge amount of storage space underneath the seat, perfect for trips out. The seat can be adjusted back so once your child is all tuckered out from the days activities, they can have a little snooze. Purchase it from us here.

So you’ve got the pram sorted, what next? Your baby is going to need diapers, toys, food (if they’re old enough to be eating), bottles, and much more. How do we organise it?

What To Pack

It’s a good idea to pack the essentials first in any situation, even more so when you’ve got a child. You’re definitely going to need diapers – so don’t forget what comes with that.

Diapers, wet wipes, portable changing mat (in case you need one), cream, and a fresh pair of clothes just in case your child has a messy accident. It’s a smart idea to purchase a Diaper Changing Bag to place all these items in – you can purchase ones that act as backpacks, totes or handbags. We recommend the backpack version or the tote version, as backpacks are easily carried and totes are simple to hook around your prams handles. You can find all of these diaper changing bags on our website.

The next thing you need to think about packing is any bottles, food, drink or items that help you with breastfeeding. You can buy t-shirts that help you breast feed discreetly and a baby sling that you tie around your body to help carry your baby and breastfeed easily while out and about.

Make sure you’ve got bottles, a lunch for yourself if you’re not eating out, plenty of water for both you and your child (especially if you’re breast feeding – it’s important to stay hydrated), a lunch for your child if they’re old enough to be eating mushed up solid foods and a few snacks are always a good idea, too. If you’ve got enough space in your diaper changing bag it could be helpful to pop all of those things in there, however if not then your pram will have more than enough room to fit everything you need in.

Don’t forget toys and blankets! No matter what the weather man said, you should always prepare your bag with items suitable for any situation. An extra coat and a couple of blankets should be considered an essential to bring with you, even if your pram has a rain cover. Blankets are easy to bring along with you since most of the time your child will probably be comfortably tucked into it. Toys can be simply put into the storage section of your pram, or nesting in any bags you’ve got on you.

Lastly, don’t forget to check for your keys, phone and wallet!

So, what next? It can be difficult to think of what to do for the day, especially if you tend to go out most of the time. The same old routine doesn’t always satisfy. We’ve put together a list of daily activities you can discover and do, getting the most out of your day with your child.
1. Playgroups – playgroups are fun for everyone, your child can make a group of friends and you can meet their parents, making it sociable for all and gives you the opportunity to set up play dates with any friends your child makes. They are usually held weekly, providing plenty of snacks, games and songs.
2. Sensory workshops – these are great for helping with your child’s development, they can discover a whole world of new things and be involved in messy play, too. Just make sure you’ve got plenty of wet wipes if that happens…
3. Play dates – as mentioned before, play dates are always pretty easy to organise as long as the other child’s family is as organised as you. It’s really up to you what you make of the day, but they can be good for letting you and your child socialise.
4. Shopping trip – a simple but always enjoyable day out, going shopping will also let you grab something nice to eat while you’re out.
5. Local museum/attractions tour – you can learn a lot at museums and most are child friendly, with a cafe you can sit down in and have lunch.

These are just a few ideas of what you can get up to if you’re bored or just planning future trips out. It’s good to keep busy if you’re a full-time mum, and even if you’re not, going out and being active is undoubtedly good for your health.
