Since summer is around the corner, I know that lots of people are looking forward to their summer vacation. And for some, that includes traveling to Disney World. Because of my relationship with Disney as part of the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, I have learned a thing or two about having fun at the most magical place on earth. Quite frankly, enjoying Disney is easy because well, it's Disney. That said, if you plan well the fun can be even better!
One of the things that marks a Disney vacation is transportation. Walt Disney World spans over 27,000 acres. So, if you have a Park Hopper pass, you're constantly plagued with how you and your brood are going to get from place to place. Theoretically, you can get there by foot. However, there are no sidewalks between the park, at least that I could see. Also, did you see that I said, 27,000 acres?! You'd need like a month to make that happen. Also, why would you want to?!
So, what are your options?
- Personal car. You could choose to drive around to all of the parks. However, that 's a hassle with no clear upside.
- Buses. Buses connect most Disney areas. However, there's often a bit of a wait. Also, unless you pay extra for an express bus, they are not direct. They are a useful transportation source that we used. They're great, but not our favorite.
- Monorail. The Monorail was designed as a transportation to the future. Even though it's been there about 40 years, I am still lobbying for Pittsburgh to get one. It's a great way to travel with fewer stops than the bus, and it's faster.
- Ferry Boat. I've decided that my favorite transportation option is a ferry boat. It makes travel an event as opposed to a chore. You get to enjoy great views along the way, and you can work on your tan!
- Express Transportation. As advertised, you can spend even more time enjoying all 4 theme parks when you add Express Transportation to your Park Hopper. This is the fastest way to visit all parks, which is ideal if you have a short time at Disney. Our family did not use this option. With our young kids, we planned to spend most of our time at magic Kingdom and Epcot. They are connected by the monorail and ferry. So, travel between them was easy.
