Do-Overs

If you could turn back the clock, would you make different decisions as a parent?

For example, would you have encouraged your sons and daughters to volunteer more?  Would you have been less protective and allowed your kids to take more risks?  Would you have been stricter, or more easygoing?  Would you have been more involved or less involved in their daily life?  Or perhaps it’s something simpler: would you have played more, whether it’s board games or sports or pillow fights.  Or maybe you wished you had introduced your children to the arts earlier or traveled more extensively.

Those are just some examples.  No doubt there are hundreds more, dealing with big and not so big matters.

I’d like to start a conversation about parenting and am asking for your thoughts and experiences.  I’m hoping it’ll prove valuable to young parents and parents to be.

And don’t worry about expressing your ideas perfectly.  I’m an editor by trade and I’m quite used to rough drafts.  Also, feel free to write as long or as short as you want.

So let me ask you:

What do you wish you had done differently as a parent?
