Community Book Fair Coming to Journal Square – July 8

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) Division of Non-Traditional Programs will host a Book Fair on Saturday, July 8 from 11 am to 4 pm. The event will be held in the College’s Culinary Plaza Park, located across the from the Culinary Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street.

HCCC has partnered with WORD Bookstore,  Speranza Theater Company, JC Families and Newport Mommy to present a day of readings, literary presentations book shopping and family fun. Proceeds from HCCC’s donated book sales will go to support family literacy programming.

Attendees can purchase new or used books and shop from local food and fair vendors. Justin Raro, a local singer and guitarist, will perform a live set. Activities include a children’s story time reading by Author Beth Ferry at 1:00 pm and two “Storybook to Stage” (performance and crafting workshops) presented by Speranza Theater Company at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

There will be face painting for kids and giveaways for all. Free Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream will be provided from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

The Book Fair will take place on Saturday, July 8 from 11 am to 4 pm, at the HCCC Culinary Conference Plaza Park located at 161 Newkirk St., two blocks from the Journal Square PATH Station. For more information contact Chastity Farrell at 201-360-4262 or cfarrell(at)hccc.edu.
