Unicorns are visiting our studio today. One special one is Misty who took a break from unicorn camp to come help us create and play today….If you want to create Misty Unicorn and some of her friends then this is the post for you.

To get started all you need is a container of Hygloss Corks, Toothpicks, paint, yarn and some kid friendly craft glue. Then the unicorn fun cam begin….Scroll on down for the full material list and directions.

Materials

• Container of Hygloss Cork Stoppers, Hygloss Products
• Box of Toothpicks or Thin Cooking Skewers
• Craft Paint
• Yarn
• Craft Glue
• Craft Scissors

Directions

1. Choose a 2 corks, a medium to large sized cork and a small cork. 
2. Cut a toothpick in half. Dip one end into glue and insert into the top end of the bigger cork. Then dip the other end in glue and place the back end of the next size cork onto the exposed toothpick. Parents should do this part. See Photos. 
3. Cut 2 more toothpicks in half, dip in glue and insert into the bottom of the larger cork. See Photos. 
4. Now cut a small piece from another toothpick for the horn. Dip in glue and insert in the top center of the small cork. ( The forehead section )
5. Start painting the cork. We used white for the whole body. Red for the smile, black for the eyes and multi colors for the horn. 
6. Finally cut some yarn and glue to the small cork for hair and some to the back for a tail. 

Let your child’s imagination run wild with this project. You could even have them make a variety of characters and create a story around them. A great way for creative building, thinking out of the box.

Tips

• If you don’t have toothpicks use thin bamboo cooking skewers.
• Craft wire could also work instead of toothpicks.
• If it’s hard to insert the toothpick, pierce a small hole with a pin or thumbtack.
• Add wings to make a Pegasus or tail to make a Mer-Unicorn.
• Try other a animals or imaginary creatures.

Parents should always do the harder parts first like the cutting of the toothpicks, piercing or inserting the toothpicks for younger children. Then the rest is for them to create.
