Cactus Craft Round Up

We are loving all the fun artwork inspired by Cactus. From cardboard cut outs to dazzling sequins, cactus motifs are popping up everywhere. A recent visit to CHA 2017 in Phoenix Arizona, inspired us to start making some fun prickly art. The following projects are a few of our favorites recently posted by Lisa Kettell using a variety of Hygloss Supplies. Best part is these projects are easy enough for the kids to make and fun for the adults as to make as well.

First set of cute cactus art is created using cardboard rolls such as paper towel or toilet paper rolls for the base. Then cactus arms cut from Hygloss Bright Papers, glued to the base, painted and enhanced with a sharpie pen. Perfect accessory for a party table scape, use to hold paper napkins, or stick into a cupcake cup or clay pot to make a fun centerpiece. Great way to teach the kids about cactus as well.

The supplies needed to make these cactus are below. For the full project visit www.lisakettell.com

Supplies:

  • Assorted Bright Sheets, Hygloss Products
  • Cardboard Rolls (Paper Towel Rolls)
  • Aqua/Green Craft Paint
  • Black Sharpie Pen
  • Craft Glue
  • Craft Scissors

The next cactus project on our round up is a dazzling sequin silhouette using Hygloss Art Boards, Bucket O’Sequins, cactus stencil, glue and a pen. Super fast, super easy. All you have to do is trace a cactus pattern onto a piece of Art Board using a black pen. Coat the inside of the cactus with craft glue such as Beacon Adhesives Kids Choice Glue or Tacky Glue. Finally sprinkle on some sequins in a random pattern, let dry and frame. You could even cut the finished cactus out, attach twine or ribbon for an ornament or magnets to display on the refrigerator.

The supplies to make your own sequin cactus art are below. One great tip would be to try drawing different cactus patterns on a piece of artwork for a more artsy feel. This is a great way to help your kids to learn drawing skills.

Supplies:

  • Art Board, Hygloss Products
  • Bucket O’Sequins, Hygloss Products
  • Cactus Stencil, Die Cut or Printable
  • Black Pen
  • Craft Glue

Next on the round up is a previous project with a cactus motif, Travel Pennants! They keepsakes were created using Hygloss Felt and Sequins. The perfect project for remembering a vacation, day trip or school event. Support your favorite school or professional team with these pennants. The two pictured were created from a recent trip to Utah and Florida. Once again the cactus was a focal point along with a palm tree.

To make these just cut a long triangle shape in two sizes, letters and a cactus, glue together using felt glue and sprinkle with sequins. This project will inspire anyone to create. Scroll down for the list of supplies and a link to the full project with step outs.
