Computers cannot understand human language. It can only understand the Binary number system, 0 and 1. Off is 0 and On is 1. These digits are known as bits. BIT is a contraction of the words Binary dIgiT.  In order for the Computer to save information it needs to save it in Bytes. BYTE is a contraction of the words BinaY digiTs Eight. This means that one BYTE consists of eight bits. In Terms of
