There are Very Many Good Hosting Companies

Also there are very many that promise everything, but only deliver problems, errors, downtime, and many other problems.

However, many of the problems are caused by the user, and not the Hosting company.  I have been using different hosting companies for over 15  years, and have had a myriad of problems.

As a novice I had no idea about hosting, I simply used the hosting that was on the website when I bought it.  I was way over my head, and the Tech Support tried like hell to solve my problems, but my questions were about the coding of the website, and he finally said to me good bye, with no notice at all. SOLUTION: Always make a backup of your entire website on your own computer every time you make a major change.

Next, I started purchasing websites on Ebay, some very cheap, and many were clones of other websites. Many had domain names, and many did not  (I will get into selecting a suitable domain name in another post).  Some would help me set up my website on my hosting account, and others would just send me the files necessary for me to set up my own account (This was very challenging) there are several different types of back end control panels, the most popular and best (as far as I am concerned) is Cpanel – easiest to set up and easiest to transfer and extremely easy to backup.  SOLUTION: Always use Cpanel hosting.

Next, as I accumulated more and more websites, I found in needed to have hosting that made it easy to sell the individual websites (which was my initial goal) without disturbing the rest of the websites, and I might even be able to sell the buyer hosting on my account and not have to transfer anything. This is called reseller hosting, and it is a little more expensive than any regular hosting, but gives you more defined limits, and separated hosting accounts for each website. Still using the Cpanel hosting.  The problem with this hosting account is they changed hands and went from a 24/7 365 days tech support to a ticket system or a chat system neither of which are helpful.  the new owner is a very large hosting company that has been acquiring many very good hosts and imposing a very diminished tech support system.  I will name all of the companies that this company has acquired later in this post.

Now I had accumulated almost 300 websites and quickly overloaded my Reseller account, so I stepped up to the next level which is a major step forward, but it has resources aplenty for what i needed for about half of my websites, at 3 times the cost of the other half.  But, it offers root access and I can control the VPS (Virtual Private Server)  All of the hosting accounts are on a server, but the ordinary and the reseller accounts share all of the resources of the server they are on, but in a DDOS attack on someone else on that server, you could be put down, but The VPS gives you control of the ROOT, and you could work with the tech support to solve the problem.

I am having serious problems with this VPS, as the websites and the server go down every evening about the same time for 2 minutes to 4 hours and the excellent tech support (but by ticket) is saying I am using too many resources for the server, and I must either upgrade my service, remove some sites, or minimize resource usage to avoid this problem.

So now I am shopping for a new host.  I will tell you what I am looking for and what I will not do again.

1. I would like one dedicated server that offers a managed server, and is optimized for WordPress, and Offers the latest SSD (solid State Drives)
2. Also offers extra Ram (24-32 GB) and at least 12 cores, Cpanel, and WHM (Core access).
3. 24/7/365 tech support by phone that is readily accessible.
4. That offers high speed load times so my websites load very quickly
5. A high Alexa Ranking (shows how much traffic they get)
6. A bargain price that is not just the opening price, but remains as long as I am a customer.

And probably a whole lot more, but I am willing to research and shop and read reviews as this is a very important decision in my business. Good hosting is the foundation of any website business.  This is a very complex business, and much help is needed. Final Point: I am avoiding these Companies

Shop carefully and be aware of the web hosting sites that the EIG hosting company has accumulated. They advertise heavily all over the internet and still may show the good reviews of the companies past history:
