London PR highlights of 2017

Christmas is almost here once again so as 2017 draws to a close we thought it would be fun to reflect back on some of our highlights of the past year.

In terms of Media coverage our retained clients had another fantastic year with HairTrade.com, Musclefood.com and PromotionalCodes.org.uk all enjoying huge amounts of media interest throughout the year.

Musclefood were profiled in the Telegraph and went past the important milestone of 1,000 media placements – all free editorial coverage, no adverts. Case studies of happy customers remain an important part of our ongoing campaign. This year we particularly enjoyed working with savvy mum Laura Light who saved big money on her Christmas dinner thanks to MuscleFood.

One of our favourite projects this year was when we worked with supercar key brand Senturion to tell how Chelsea FC star David Luiz had bought one each for the entire team to celebrate winning the Premiership title. The media went crazy for the story and it was the lead item on the Mail Online, made the Independent, a page three lead for the Sunday Telegraph, and made the back page leads of The Sun and Mirror.

Online coverage and hyperlinks remains our core offering but we also target broadcasters and scored a great goal for Dublin based building toy kit Arckit when they were featured on ITV’s This Morning programme as one of the must have toys of Christmas (pictured above).

The force was with us this month when we used the release of new Star Wars movie The Last Jedi to highlight the value of Star Wars figures as part of our ongoing campaign for money saving site PromotionalCodes.org.uk. We were able to deliver almost 100 items of coverage such as this piece in the Express. Our campaign across the year resulted in more than 1,000 items of media coverage for the client.

We continued to develop our expertise in the food and drinks sector during 2017 and recently welcomed field&flower and Eat17 as new clients. We are also developing our work with Muscle Food to include European PR as they expand their business into Europe.

New clients who joined our list this year have included vehicle leasing specialists Leasecar.uk and sister site Leasevan.co.uk, business relocation experts LondonOffices.com, rubbish removal service Junk Hunters and garden buildings manufacturers and retailers BillyOh.com.

We continued to receive lovely feedback from clients such as writer Jacqueline Whitehart, author of the New 5:2 Diet Cookbook. She said: “The response has exceeded my expectations and I’m so, so pleased. Thank you for excellent work.”

Reflecting on the success of 2017, London PR director Steve McComish said: “2017 marked ten years since I started the agency from my spare bedroom in 2007 so it was always going to be something of a landmark year.

“We made a deliberate decision only to take on work we really wanted to do and to focus on growing our retained client list and taking on less project based work.

“That led to us actually turning away a lot of business this year, more than in any other year since we started. We worked with 40 clients compared to around 70 back in 2011, for example, yet turnover and average sale value has grown considerably as we focus on more in depth work.

“It’s also been a very busy year for the team with three new hires joining and we have faced the inconvenience of not one but two office moves. I’m pleased to say we have no plans to move again for the foreseeable future!

“We will be taking a break over the Christmas period but will be back on 2 January to do it all again. We are looking forward to even more success for our clients during 2018.

“A big thank you to everyone who has been a part of our story in 2017 and we look forward to talking to you next year. Have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.”
