Let’s be upfront here, if you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame, do not watch this Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer.

That being said, watch away if you want.

There’s a lot to digest here, but the big thing is the mention of a Multiverse. As this film serves as the closure to Phase 3 of the MCU, it’s pretty clear we’ve just opened the door on what is to come in the future.

For those not knee-deep in comics lore, the multiverse theory is a real theory that involves the concept of an Infinite Number of universes and of an infinite number of possibilities. Comics has used this concept for years to have different versions of characters and solve continuity issues. DC abused this idea so much that in the 1980s it ran a series called Crisis on Infinite Earths to merge all of their universes. (Now they’re back to multiple.)

And so now here we are with a multiverse in the MCU… and Disney just bought Fox… which held the rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

It seems doubtful this multiverse has been set up for just this purpose, but boy did they just get an easy out. “Why didn’t the X-Men help with Ultron? They had never been to our Earth.” “Why didn’t the Fantastic Four help collect Infinity Stones?” You get the idea.

The MCU just opened a ton of doors, now it’s just down to which one they want to walk through.
