Complexity...

Tags: compromise

Modern life is nothing if not complicated. We balance jobs with desire for free time. We aspire to good food and fine wine, but we also want to be slim and healthy. We are confronted by paradoxes and the necessity for Compromise everywhere.

When I was younger, I despised compromise. I felt that it was weak - an action of those who didn't have the time or the intellect to discover the right answer. The older I become, the more I understand that compromise is just part of the game. The only way to progress.

But am I right? Can great things be done by compromise? Maybe what is needed in an age of political compromise and a shift to the middle ground is a movement of people who are uncompromising and committed to their political, emotional and spiritual beliefs. At least then we can reference a new generation of people that belive in something.
