At 8AM this morning, a 6-foot tall Retaining Wall on Oak Bay Ave. near where it merges with Fort Street collapsed sending rocks and dirt across the sidewalk and into the lane below. There were no injuries, but Victoria Police dispatched a K9 unit to search the rubble for anyone who may be trapped underneath. Eastbound traffic onto Oak Bay Ave. will be closed for at least 1 or 2 days due to the rest of the wall potentially being unstable. It may be no coincidence that the heavy rains over the last day could have had an impact to condition of the wall.
