We see a little spat between Air Asia and Mavcom. Apparently MAVCOM rejected Air Asia expansion in certain routes, which is a concern.
Air Asia is one of the few things that Malaysia can be proud of (though I am sure there are Malaysians who are still sore with Tony Fernandez trying to curry favour with Najib).
There are not many things anymore that Malaysia can put their heads high. The country has moved backwards so much with Badawi and Najib while others are fast moving ahead.
While Air Asia is still a world beater, neighbouring airlines are fast catching up. We have Scoot, Lion Air and even Malindo, an Indonesian offshoot trying hard to increase their market share.
It is a concern that MAVCOM want to pandai-pandai dictate which route and how frequent the airline can fly as if they know how to run an airline. Just leave the airline business to the airline.
And why are we paying money to MAVCOM anyway? It's just an unnecessity. Travellers should have the option of opting out than paying this silly MAVCOM fee.
