When Proton first came about, it was to propel Malaysia to become a first world nation. It was Dr M's vision but the problem was most people did not share the vision. Many wanted quick money and the easy ways.
A first world nation is not just about income but also knowledge and technology. Some Arab nations are very rich but we don't consider them first world nations.
Malaysia is only going backwards. Soon we will be low income and without knowledge. Maybe we still have Hudud to be proud of.
