How to Make Yourself Work

We make our computers work. We make our cars and bikes work. We customize them and tweak them so that they work perfectly, at their optimal level.

Then why don't we do the same thing to ourselves and make ourselves work at our peak level?

When your computer malfunctions, or your car breaks down, you look into the cause of the problem and try to identify its source. Then you fix it so that it doesn't happen again. The same way, you should learn to look into the source of your personal problems and fix them permanently.

For example, if you want to be Productive, then look into the reason why you are not being productive. What stops you from being productive. What is that one thing that comes between you and productivity, and how you can defeat it forever. What changes can you make in your daily routine that will make you productive.

Or, if you want to be Creative, then find the reason why you are not creative. What changes can you do to your life to become creative. What activities can you do daily that will bring out your inner creativity. What's blocking you from showing your creativity to others, and how can you unblock yourself from all limitations and recover your creative sense back.

Ask yourself such deep questions. Try to find the cause of the problems at their core. And then do what it takes to eliminate them.

Whatever you want to be, you have to look for the reason why you aren't so already. You have to look at yourself in a detached way. When you look at yourself, don't pity yourself or be soft on yourself. Try to see your problems from a third-person's point of view. It's only then that you'll see what keeps you away from becoming the person you want to be.

Be as scientific in your approach as you possibly can. When you fix your car, you don't attach any emotions to the mechanical parts. You simply take out the broken parts and replace them with new and better ones.

The same way, you have to look scientifically at your habits. You have to see which habits are old and no longer effective, or which simply add more clutter to your life, and then replace those habits with new and better ones.

We all are different in our own unique ways. Some work best at morning, some work best at night. Some work best when alone, some work best in a group. Some work best in their free time, some work best under deadlines.

Your job is to figure out in what conditions you work best, and then make sure that you do your most important things of the day under those conditions.

You may find that you work best at morning, in a coffee shop, and with a hot cup of coffee to refresh you. Or, you may find that you work best at night, in a quiet room with no one there to disturb you, and with a warm cup of green tea to relax you.

Take a deep look at yourself. Spend some time alone every day reflecting on your thoughts and actions. Meditate every day, so that you are closer to your true nature and can make decisions without the outside clutter influencing you in any way.

Keep trying different things. Keep looking within and see what environment, what mental state, and what tools bring out the best from you. And keep tweaking that until you find the best possible conditions to make yourself work.

You can be more productive; you can be more creative; you can be more smart; you can be more intelligent. You only need to figure out for yourself how can you make that happen, and then do what needs to be done, every day.

In this super-competitive world, if you want to create useful things, and you want to make a living from it, you have to make yourself work in the best possible way you can. Because if you won't, no one else will do that for you.
