The Hunger Games is one of the best books I've read in years. I put up there with "The Book Thief" - which if you know me is a glowing recommendation.

Have you read "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson? (If not, you should.) It has a similar plot.

"The Hunger Games" is about a young woman who is selected to represent her distract in the national hunger games. 2 children (aged between 12 and 18) are selected from each of the 12 districts.

They are then put into an arena and forced to fight to the death.
