I blame Guy Fieri.

I blame him and his Food Network show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

His smiling, friendly TV presence introduces viewers to various delicious, greasy, and just plain ridiculous foods every episode.

I really do enjoy his show.  My meat-and-potatoes husband often finds new foods to try by watching and I’m all for anything that makes him step outside the proverbial box when it comes to food.

Then came the “Dead Texan”. Guy Fieri featured the Kansas City restaurant Swagger and it’s monster of a burger.  My husband instantly approached me after the segment and requested that I make him one “someday”. I reluctantly agreed.

Apparently today is Someday.

That a 3/4 pound hamburger with cheddar cheese, bacon and a fried egg on top.  Besides its size, not too extraordinary.  It’s the fact that instead of a bun it has 2 bacon-grilled cheese sandwiches that makes it ridiculous.

There is no way I would even contemplate trying to put that much food it my mouth at once.  My husband however, considered it a challenge.

I thought he was going to have to dislocate jaw to eat it.  It’s huge!

His words upon finishing: “Pretty good.  You can make that for me anytime!”

My response: “That’s definitely not an everyday sorta meal.”

His response:  But Guy Fieri wouldn’t feature it unless everyone was supposed to eat it whenever they got a chance.”

Guy Fieri owes me big time now.
