When I am having trouble with writing, like right now, I hate writing. When the writing is done or when I am editing the final version after many drafts that drew my sweat, blood, and, tears, I Love Writing. When I look back at my old papers through the rose-rimmed glasses of hindsight, I love writing.
But right this very minute - I am struggling with it.
Writer's block- I hate it. But I also love it. Because it shows I am "trying" to write. It shows I am engaging in intellectual pursuits of the grandest kind - and for these few hours of struggle and self-loathing, I am at par with giants like Shakespeare, Milton, JK Rowling..... Not because I am able to write with the creativity, wit, or art that these literary giants did. But because I can claim to like them in the mind-numbing writer's block that hits me... and reassuredly.. also hits the best and brightest of writers! Through the nauseating pain of writer's block, I can feel what it is like to be Shakespeare!
