Thanks Dr. King...

Today is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and for Black Americans and also those of other races, the mission and legacy of Dr. King and his dream of equality among whites and blacks still continues to thrive over 40 years later. Dr. Martin Luther King believed that nonviolence and civil disobedience coupled with the power of faith and perseverance would allow his dream to come to fruition. As a young black man in society today, many of the opportunities that I have been granted in my lifetime would not be possible had it not been for Dr. King's fight and achievements. He has ameliorated the state of Blacks through generations and inspired many to achieve heights not before thought possible. Barack Obama continues to represent Dr. King's dream ascending to the highest position of American status as the President of the United States. Obama and King represent what is real swag; it is altruism and hope, sacrificing one's own life and achievements so that those after may achieve more. Though Dr. Martin Luther King was met with an untimely death, his fight for justice and equality are immortal. So I personally say, thank you, Dr. Martin Luther King. A real American Urban Gentleman.

--An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
