Well I am pro Arrange Marriages. For this there are basically 2 reasons, firstly I don’t think I trust my judgment in men (we are talking about life here), secondly, my mother gets palpitations with the two words…”Love Marriage” its funny I know…My mother treats it as her hobby finding me a guy, I am just short of wearing a sign around my neck FIND A GOOD BOY FOR HER…lol…

Talking of arrange marriages I have gone through a lot of ads in the newspapers for prospective bride grooms and also read what people are looking for in brides. Its amazing what people are looking for. For example ‘ looking for a convent educated, fair beautiful girl for a handsome 170 cms earning in 6 figures boy’. This I want a DDG(Drop Dead Gorgeous) wife/husband is sad. Don’t you want more in your life partner, does a person who probably has so much more to him/her just be defined as DDG and thats about it. Besides, have people stopped and looked at themselves, are they DDG? If you are not DDG then why would you demand a DDG husband/wife! They are not trophies to hold through life. Well that is one mind set.
I was told of a boy who wants an english speaking wife!! That’s all!!! I ask. I mean, doesn’t he want a graduate nice looking etc the works wife! All he wants is an english speaking wife. That’s so last century!!
I have seen marriages arranged where the girl and the boy don’t meet or talk until after the wedding. They see a photograph of each other and then the families decide everything and the wedding takes place on the said date and time. The courtship starts after marriage. Okay!! How do you know you want to spend the rest of your life with the person just by looking at a photograph? How do you know your wavelengths match by looking at a photograph? How do you know what his sense of humor is like just by looking at a photograph? Weird huh!!! But I know of people and they talked for the first time to each 0ther after the wedding, and today they are happily married for a while now with 2 kids…God bless them!!

I believe in one theory (hope it proves true practically as well). Marriage is a gamble in both scenarios love or arranged. You do not know who the real person is until you start living with that person (No I am not talking about live in relationships here, I don’t believe in them).No one is perfect. So, don’t look for perfection you won’t find anyone! But if you have a list of 10 traits you are looking for in your life partner, and if you find 5 of these consider yourself lucky and take it! That person will keep you happy!
