Progress and the Future of our World.

How different our lives are now compared to 100 years ago, and even 50 years ago.  Things that we deemed Impossible are now the norm.

How is it that we say something is impossible just because it has not been done before?

We see the impossible realized every day in sports, Medicine, science and Technology.

This opens up new chances for employment, hobies, lifestyle and even how long we live – Impossible !?!?

More like sensational !!

A weight limit that was deemed impossible to lift, until one man managed to lift it, and within weeks all of a sudden many more people were able to lift the same weight.  A time record for a 100 m sprint, never broken until one person broke it, and following that many more people were able to break that time.  Of course, the famous 4 minute mile!

100 years ago there were less than 1.8 billion people on this planet, today there are over 6 billion people. If you see the Population growth on a graph, it’s exponential.
The thing with exponential graphs, in pretty much all areas regarding life as we know it, is that after a massive peak, comes a massive crash to restore the balance which was disrupted.

It scares me a little, because I think the same will happen to the human population.
At what point of the graph we are I don’t know, and it might take another 100 years before something happens, but I know this world is getting very full, and at some point we will get a major war, virus outbreak or natural disaster which will greatly reduce the human population.

On a more positive note, lets look at some of the things that we have achieved.
It was interesting, I was driving in my car yesterday, and the thought came to me that everything that we know, cars, computers, watches, clothes, roads, buildings, jewelry, machines, complex electronics, airplanes…they all come from the earth.
Lol, where else would they come from???
No, but I mean they come from rocks and ground and trees.
A few hundred years ago when we were still walking around with spears, we only had the raw natural resources. That is it!

Man has, over time, managed to refine those resources and turn it into thousands of things.
Isn’t it a little strange to think about? Can you just pull a computer out of the soil? Or a Porsche?
When Henry Ford invented the car, in those days people thought that a car would never be able to go over 100km/h. Today, speed limits are higher than that!

How many homes have one or more personal computers that are each more powerful than the first computer NASA used to send a rocket to space?

I can pick up my digital camera, record a clip of me doing a handstand on my porch, stick it in the computer, upload it to the internet via radiowaves, and have someone on the other side of the world, 15000km away, instantly view it? Heck, that’s even taking a long way, because I could just stream it on live video directly through my webcam!

Sometimes I wonder why we as people always want more?
Are we all such perfectionists inherently that nothing is ever good enough?
A lot of progression comes through our natural laziness, or maybe is is the law of nature, finding the path of least resistance.
Anything to do something more efficient, with less work and effort involved.
That is why the wheel was invented, instead of four cavemen having to carry a huge ox 20km to their village, which must have been exhausting, someone came up with the idea, hey, if it is on one of these rolling things, then I don’t have to do as much effort to get that damn ox home.

It has caused the progression from a wooden stick or stone as weapon to nuclear bombs that can take out entire continents with the push of a button.
Microchips that can fit in an ant’s mouth, satellites in space, global communication, air travel, advances in medicine (although for natural medicine and healing, ancient truths and remedies are often still the best), the only advances in the medicine field that are good in my opinion are surgery, and trauma and accident related technologies.

Take cars for example, I agree that we should continue to work on technology that will allow as fuel efficient use of energy to power the cars as possible, but why is it necessary for each brand to come out with tens of new models every year? I mean, is your one year old BMW really ready for replacement? Stick to one model, continue to work on the technology until it is at least 50% more efficient before bringing out a new one!

In the process of the advancement of technology and knowledge, we waste a lot and cause a lot of pollution. The majority of the world lives like there is no tomorrow and that the earth only has to last as long as they live, who cares what happens for the next generation.
And until a radical change comes from some sort of crisis, that is what is going to cause the fall of much of the population and life as we know it.

I know it sounds bad, but I cannot view it in another light.
If everyone worked together for that common goal, we could make many changes and do things better.
But I cannot help but think that there is no perfect solution for everybody to live in harmony, simply because we are all individuals and not everybody wants the same.

Some want power, some want freedom, some want love others want war.
Communism doesn’t work and neither does capitalism.
I think life will always consist of the rise and fall of ideas, empires and populations, but remember, if you want to help change the world, start with yourself. Everyone can make a difference.

There is a definite advantage in understanding how you live independently.  Not that you have to all the time or even every area but you never know what may happen in the future and building knowledge and independence is always useful.  Did you know you can make your own Solar panels and wind turbine from things you can buy in your local hardware store?
You can run parts of your home on it.  Understanding how to generate your own power is cool.

Click here to visit the Power Freedom site it might be one step along the independence path to allow you to Fire Your Boss

Update:  Ramon has added Solar Panels with a solar PV electricity generating array and solar inverter to his house and it is covering all their electricity needs with a payoff period of 7 years.  Well worth considering!
