The wonder of little moments

Wonder still lives. It really does. You may or may not have seen the following story that was on ABC news recently, concerning an incident that occurred in a quiet neighborhood street in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, but I would love to share it with you.

Two officers of the Brooklyn Park Police department were out on patrol, cruising along a quiet tree-lined street, when they saw an empty car parked near the middle of the road.  The door of the car was open, and a young teen was kneeling over a Squirrel that lay motionless on the grass at the side of the road.

The officers were stunned to realize, as they climbed out of their car and walked toward the scene that the young man, later identified as Chris Felix, was actually applying CPR to the squirrel.

The police body cams caught each of the gentle prods Chris was applying to the squirrel. And they caught the dramatic moment when the squirrel, that had seemed so very dead and motionless, suddenly sprang to life and in a flash was climbing to the safety of a nearby tree.

Felix told the police that the squirrel had run into his car, though he had tried to avoid it. Asked where he had learned CPR, he said he had learned it at school when he was 9 years old. He said had been working on the squirrel for nearly 20 minutes before the police arrived.

The most touching moment of all for me was the moment when the squirrel, safe up the tree, looked down for a moment at the strange scene it had just left. What a story it had to tell:-).

If you have any thoughts about this story--or if you have a story about Nature yourself that you would like to share--please do write. Blessings.
