Does our spirit change as we get older?

Does our Spirit change as the aging process catches up with us?

I was thinking about this, for some reason, while sipping my latte in Peet's coffee shop this afternoon. And the answer I got was no, our spirit doesn't change. Our bodies change, of course. Our mind changes. Our understanding changes. We become a bit kinder, perhaps, or maybe a bit angrier.

But the spirit that gives life to our fleeting human forms, that guides us in this direction or that, the spirit from whence our life comes and that is the very source of courage and resilience, Love and truth,  does not change.

Our spirit--I submit--is changeless and eternal. It is the same now as it was the day you or I were born. It is quite beyond the reach of aging. Not even death is mighty enough to vanquish your spirit.

Many are the adventures upon which spirit embarks. Vast, and beyond comprehension, are its purposes, its goals. Yet as we proceed through this particular adventure we are all on right now, we each have the opportunity to celebrate, and give thanks for this unseen, unconquerable reality at the core of our being. A reality that nothing in this world can touch or harm in any way.

It's six weeks since I had surgery for my abdominal aortic aneurysm. I'm coming along well, I do believe, but exactly when full recovery will come is a little difficult to say.

My love to you. You know I always love hearing from you.
