Corrupt Detroit City Council member, Gabe Leland, is fighting a petition to be recalled by the Wayne County Election Commission. Leland was caught on FBI audiotape soliciting bribes from Detroit business operators. He could face 10 years in prison for the conspiracy.

At what point do you consider it too dangerous to enter Detroit? A mother was driving on Southfield near Plymouth Rd. when their car was hit in yet another Detroit drive-by shooting. This time, her 3-year-old boy in the back seat was shot and is in critical condition at the hospital.

At the old vacant Packard Plant in Detroit, its dilapidated bridge over E. Grand Boulevard collapsed on to the road. Thankfully, no one was injured. The bridge is half-owned by the city of Detroit who has done nothing to stabilize or remove the hazard that could have killed people.

Travis Nelson is Detroit’s Most Wanted. He has a long criminal history of drug dealing and stolen property. His latest is trying to kill 3 people with an AK-47 in which all 3 were seriously injured, just days after he had been released from prison.

Hurray – Mayor Duggan found a new place to throw money that the city does not have. Even though every study shows pre-school does nothing for kids, the mayor insists on offering free pre-school for Detroiters. Duggan wants to grab the $100 million he needs to fund the program from philanthropic donors. I think Detroit’s Duggan and NYC’s de Blasio are competing to determine who is the bigger waster of public money…

Because everything is a scam in Detroit – one Detroit non-profit (CLEARCorps) is being audited by the Michigan State Health Officials. The non-profit has been vacuuming up government money for 11 years to remove lead paint from Detroit homes. It turns out – they have NOT been remediating the lead and kids are still getting sick from the lead.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • A 34-year-old man was shot in the face at 3am in Detroit near Curtis and Meyers Road, police have no details of the crime yet, the victim went straight to surgery.
  • Two men had a disagreement at a Detroit gas station. One pulled a gun, chasing the other man and firing shots at hitting his car. The suspect has been arrested.
  • Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for the double murder of two brothers living in a Detroit home 11 months ago. They were killed in a home-invasion robbery.
  • Detroit Lions linebacker, Trevor Bates, refused to pay his $32 cab fare in NYC at 3am. Bates was arrested and punched a Police Sgt. in the face during booking. The Sgt. suffered a concussion and received stitches. Officers say 25-year-old Bates went berserk after he was arrested and could be facing 7 years in prison.
