Right after GM is laying off thousands of auto workers in Detroit, the city just sold $135 million in general obligation bonds. This is the first bond sale in over 20 years due to bad credit, and the city only had to pay 4.8% even with their bond credit rating of Ba3, a non-investment grade!These suckers bought bonds that go out 20 years and maybe they won’t take a big loss like the last round of bondholders, but I highly doubt it. 

U.S. Marshall’s are searching for Detroit Jermal Cannon for luring a man out of his home to execute him. He is also accused of shooting the mother of his child while the child was sitting the car at the time.

Dr. Rajendra Bothra, along with 5 other doctors, were charged with Medicare fraud and unlawful opiod prescriptions from pain clinics in Eastpointe and Warren. They submitted colossal fraudulent charges of:

  1. $272.6 million to Michigan’s Medicaid
  2. $182.5 million to Medicare
  3. $9.2 million to Michigan’s Blue Cross/Blue Shield

4 people in New Boston were arrested for running a retail fraud ring out of a bar. The Dearborn Police say they stole expensive goods from big box stores (Kroger, Meijer, Target, Home Depot) and resold them out of Cas Bar that borders Detroit and Dearborn. The lead attorney for the Business Protection Unit of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, Fadwa Haddad, says, “Organized retail crime is on the rise anytime consumer prices go up and 90% of the perpetrators do it for their drug addictions; mostly heroin.”

Since there just aren’t enough scams in Detroit, a local actor trying to meet rapper, actor, and scammer the recently declared bankruptcy, “50 Cent.” The local actor, Terrance Ward, promoted a fake ad/flyer that 50 Cent was coming to Detroit for a non-existent casting call for a news how. People now accuse Ward of trying to use 50 Cent’s name to attract women for human trafficking… in Detroit, you never get to the truth

An Ann Arbor resident, 69-year-old Lawrence Brayboy has been charged by the FBI for threatening reporters at the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press for years. Brayboy has sent hundreds of emails and voice mails to officials in Ann Arbor to Detroit that have death threats, sexual violence, vulgarity, anti-Semitic slurs, and seemed to know some of their personal details.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • 2 men stabbed each other during an argument between a man and woman by 7 Mile Road and Livernois. The man stabbed once is listed in temporary serious condition and the man stabbed multiple times is listed in critical condition.
  • Detroit Police arrested a suspect that fired shots into 8 occupied homes at Hazelwood and Pingree. The 31-yer-old has no prior criminal history but bullet casings connect him to shootings in the city going back 6 months.
  • A 21-year old Detroit woman was shot in the back by W. Warren and Livernois, she refuses to speak to police and is being treated at the hospital.
  • Detroit Police are searching for a woman that stole merchandise at a gas station on Wyoming before fleeing. It is a Project Greenlight surveillance store.
  • 3 people, aged 18-23, were arrested after an armed robbery at a Detroit gas station on Woodward. It is a Project Greenlight location – which helped them follow the thieves.
  • An 18-year veteran of the Detroit Police dept. has been charged with assault and battery from punching a naked woman at Detroit Receiving Hospital. The woman was screaming and spitting when Cpl. Dewayne Jones punched her a couple times to subdue her. Jones was suspended after video was reviewed by police and may face 5 years in prison.
  • A church parishioner in Detroit discovered a human skull in a flower pot near the front door. The Wayne County Medical Examiner is investigating.
  • The CEO of Future Net Group was sentenced to a year in prison for bribing a Detroit City Official with $6,500 and a trip to N.Carolina. The city official, Charles Dodd, was sentenced to 20 months in jail.
  • An 11-year-old boy has been hospitalized from a gunshot. He was injured from a drive-by shooting while he was inside his home at Chalmers and Flanders. Locals say this is normal for the area.
