An anonymous tip led state authorities to discover 11 children’s bodies hidden in a Detroit funeral home. They were in cardboard boxes stashed in a ceiling crawlspace and appear to have been left there for at least 10 years. The current building owner bought it at a foreclosure auction last month and says he wasn’t surprised, “They ran the whole business inappropriately and kept racking up citations. He laughed when 6 bodies were found in the garage.” I expect the former owner, Raymond Cantrell Jr., will be getting visit from authorities shortly…
Detroiter Garlin Gilchrist II is running for Lieutenant Governor as Gretchen Whitmer’s running mate. Gilchrist has until Monday to clean up a fire-damaged 8-plex apartment building in Detroit or it will be taken from him for blight violations. He bought it from the Detroit Land Bank and you have 6 months to clean it up or it is taken back. Gilchrist says he has run out of money and can’t get a loan to rehab it. State republicans call it slumlord-like behavior.
A well-known Detroit trial attorney, Mike Morse, is being criminally investigated for bribing Detroit Police Officers and Physical Therapy Centers to obtain unofficial accident reports as leads for new business and insurance fraud. This was the result of an FBI investigation from a lawsuit by State Farm Auto Insurance. State Farm sued 18 doctors for fraud and inflating costs with unnecessary MRI testing in Detroit. Last year, 5 women sued Mike Morse for sexual misconduct.
Another success – Detroit moved up this year from 7th worst to 6th worst clty in the nation for rat infestations according to Orkin’s Pest Control annual survey.

- A 36-year-old Detroit man was shot in a drive-by at Mack and Van Dyke, he’s in stable condition at the hospital.
- There was a quadruple shooting at 8 Mile Rd. and Greenfield. It was a drive-by shooting and the victims were age 21-29, leaving a club. A 27-year old was killed, the others are likely to survive.
- A 45-year-old man was shot in a Detroit home with a couple visitors, no word on how it happened, a relative drove the victim to the hospital.
- Two Detroit men are on a theft spree, robbing businesses along 7 Mile Rd, including Project Green Light businesses.
