A 22-year-old security guard at Detroit’s Dickerson Manor Apartments saw 3 men trying to enter the apartment building. The guard told them to leave. A short time later, while the guard next to his SUV, the 3 men approached again with guns and ordered him into his car – kidnapping him. After they stole his cellphone and personal items, they kicked him out and stole his car.

50 Detroiters were awarded homes by the Detroit Land Bank. In this Buyback Program, if a home is lost to foreclosure from non-payment of property taxes, you can get the deed if you meet some simple requirements. The Detroit Land Bank is always trying to get rid of the empty homes on their books.

Detroit now has the state’s first “gender bias hate crime,” against 29-year-old Deonton Rogers. Rogers was at a gas station when he confronted a transgender woman about her sexual orientation. Rogers then pulled his gun from a waistband, a struggle ensued, and the victim was shot in the shoulder. Naturally, Rogers is already a convicted felon (so it is illegal for him to have any firearm), and when he fled, he abandoned a child in the back of his car.

Oh Kwame. He just announced on Facebook that he and his wife divorced this summer because of an affair that went public 10 years ago. This is ridiculous – he had numerous affairs during his time in Lansing and the Mayor’s Office, plus anytime Kwame’s wife was out of town, the Manoogian Mansion was turned into a strip-club with prostitutes. And now he’s a disgraced felon serving a 28-year sentence for his conviction on 24 felony charges. The Facebook wall is filled with straight-up lies about Kwame’s prison sentence: Kwame didn’t cost the city a penny; Kwame didn’t cost taxpayers a penny; it was just a few bribes so 28 years is excessive; he has shown remorse; Kwame didn’t get a fair trial because of his attorney; it was all about race; the U.S. President should pardon him; and my favorite, “Kwame didn’t take any money for himself!” All of these assertions are beyond laughable on their face – and insulting to anyone that followed Kwame’s mayoral run or either of his corruption trial convictions.

• A 51-year-old man was killed in a Hit & Run on Plymouth on the city’s west side.
• Detroit Police are looking for a Smash & Grab suspect. He rammed a stolen industrial truck through the back wall of a store, robbed the cash registers and fled.
• 4 thieves wearing masks and jackets broke into a store at 7 Mile Road and Livernois. They used crowbars and sledgehammers to break into the store’s front window, grabbed the ATM machine, put it in the back of their truck and fled.
• A 74-year-old Detroiter was carjacked in front of his home on Outer Drive. The carjackers patted him down for valuables and shoved him to the ground before they fled.
• An argument at at Barber Shop on 9 Mile Road and Mound turned into a deadly shooting, police have no suspects.
• A woman in Dearborn walked her daughter into their home, leaving the car door open, and within 30 seconds, surveillance cameras catch thieves stealing the car. The duo just happened to be walking by when they saw it and stole it without hesitation.
