Detroit Realities #717

Robert Mosley, has been scamming people across the country. Mosley recently preyed on churches in Detroit claiming that he could get them into the free state lunch programs for children – for a large fee to him. Evidence submitted to the FBI brought no action and so Mosley fled to Florida. Mosley was arrested by local authorities in Florida for fraud and theft – the same thing he was doing in Detroit where he grabbed $400,000 from churches before he fled.

Detroit sleazeball, Gasper Fiore, was Caught bribing officials from Macomb to Clinton to Wayne with his towing and trash hauling businesses. A federal investigation netted 20 public officials and contractors, but too many strings from wiretaps all pointed to Fiore as being the biggest crook. After Fiore was charged, he was then caught trying to intimidate witnesses against him. But before his sentencing – his lawyer is calling him, “a generous civic leader, a family man, and unmatched work ethic.” It is easy to be generous with ill-gotten profit

18-year-old Detroiter Dawone Cook was given probation for accidentally shooting and killing his friend live on Instagram. They were showing off firearms when one went off and killed Dylan Hemphill.

A Detroit non-profit named, “Operation Get Down” (doesn’t that sound totally legit?) was caught defrauding the Detroit Mental Health Authority of $489,000 last year. Guess what – the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is about to approve a $225,000 contract with the same scammy non-profit. I can only presume that 50% of the contract will find its way to the wallets of the Sheriff’s Office that approved the contract…

Mayor Duggan has broken his silence about losing 200 police officers to the higher-paying suburbs. Duggan, “It is unprofessional for them to poach our officers.” That is the reality buddy – they aren’t indentured servants. Duggan also said the city can’t afford to pay them what they’re worth, “If we did, Lansing would take over with an appointed Financial Manager within 60 days.” What? You’ve been claiming the opposite for the last 3 years – Detroit is great, finances are great, as if we need more proof that anything coming out of your mouth is a lie

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • Hey, let’s go to a Detroit Coney Island! Wait, what? Two men got into an argument over a woman’s phone number at a Coney Island on Woodward near Mack. Both pulled out guns and at least 10 shots were fired, one fled while the other was shot in the leg.
  • Detroit Police are searching for a car involved in a pedestrian Hit & Run on 7 Mile Road and Appleton.
  • 25-year-old Detroiter Darius Jackson just plead guilty to the rape and armed robbery of a Detroit Opera House guest that was 61-years-old. It was all caught on surveillance video in the parking garage.
  • Saturday morning, there were 5 people injured in separate incidents in Detroit.
