Why in the world is Dan Gilbert so big on Detroit? Oh, I see. In his latest “deal,” Gilbert is getting an additional $618 million in tax incentives to makeover a couple Detroit buildings. Offhand, I’d say Gilbert has received over $2 billion from taxpayers in the last 10 years.

The FBI and Detroit Police are digging around a lot on the city’s east side for a young man’s body in a homicide case from 2008. They were directed to the site from someone in custody, the digging is near 7 Mile Road and Groesbeck, in a decrepit neighborhood.

Gasper Fiore went to prison for bribery related to his towing and trash business dealings with Detroit and Macomb County. Three other towing companies were banned from dealing with Detroit, and they claim cried foul – they had nothing to do with Fiore! Unfortunately for them, wiretaps now prove they were all in the scam together. So why weren’t these additional 3 companies charged?

The 19-year-old son of a Detroit Public School Board member, Reverend David Murray, was arrested for carjacking Gail Oxendine, The Detroit Director of Human Resources. Rev. Murray had already had his 4 children taken away from him Why? Oh, just the usual: starving them, neglect, abuse, and domestic violence.

Speaking of public officials, James Warner, Wayne County Airport Infrastructure Manager, was charged for bribes and kickbacks in $5 million worth of contracts from 2010-2014.

Macomb County isn’t the only county conspiring to loot estates in Probate Court. In Pontiac, a criminal investigation has been opened against a public administrator, Barbara Andruccioli and the real estate agent with whom she’s been profiting, Ralf Roberts. In spite of the criminal probe and constant complaints from probate heirs, 4 Oakland County Judges STILL approved her contract at $102,000 per year to continue working.

Crime Pays in Detroit: Arthur Rathburn made $13 million in body parts fraud and mishandling cadavers. While the sentencing guidelines go up to 20 years, the judge sentenced the unrepentant Rathburn to just 9 years and just $2 million in restitution. The lesson is always the same = criminals are treated lightly in Detroit, if you’re ever caught.

And finally, in “It is a Darwin move to be anywhere near Detroit” news,

  • Detroit police are looking for the 31-year-old suspect in a double fatal shooting during an argument on the city’s east side.
  • The body of a 37-year-old was found in an abandoned building with several gunshot wounds in the Boston Edison district.
  • A young man was caught breaking into a Detroit Rite Aid to grab prescription drugs, another suspect fled and police are searching for him.
  • A woman was arrested for stabbing another woman to death, just south of Detroit in River Rouge.
  • A delivery driver shot and killed a thief stealing from his truck and reaching for a weapon at Eastern Market. A second suspect fled and got away. Most tourists are unaware that Eastern Market is a hub for violence, theft, and car break-ins/car theft.
