One man’s medicine is another boy’s poison

Tags: medicine touch

Kubla was 3.  He wants to take my Medicine, to be like his dad.  I say no.  I hide the bottle.  He always seems moments away from an overdose.

I take an old bottle of vitamins and put jelly beans in it.

“Kubla, you can never take someone else’s medicine.  My medicine is your poison.  But I called your doctor.  He says you have your own medicine, and that it’s very important you have one every day.  He says I can’t even touch them—if I touch your medicine, I could get very sick.  Will you help remind me?”

We each take our medicine, his a bit sweeter than mine.

How do you keep your kids away from things that can harm them?

In two weeks I’ll give a free Kidorable Umbrella to whoever makes my favorite comment and shares this post on the platform of their choice.
