Uber Rideshare - Relationship Building Between a Father and a Son

Being an Uber driver I get to see a great many ways people interact. I get to witness many things that work and don't work in conversations between people and even some interesting relationships. In this case, the awesomeness of the budding relationship between fathers and sons.
I was pinged to do a pickup for a rideshare andaccepted the callof the Uber dinger. It was an easy pickup. Google maps did its job getting me to the correct address. It was a nice wide street in the middle of the day on a  Saturday in a middle class neighborhood. There was a young man in his twenties and Young Boy, who looked to be about six standing in a driveway. I stopped to pick them up rolling down the passenger window to confirm their name. The young boy lurched excitedly at the car when I stopped and said, "Here! Here! Take this! It's for you!" while sticking his hand in through the window with three, one dollar bills. The father leaned in and said, "It's your tip. He doesn't want to forget." So I took the money and they climbed on aboard.  The destination the Uber app gave was forChuy's. TheOriginal Chuy'sis fun casual dining with Tex-Mex offerings and surf bar decor. The young boy was quite clearly excited. While we drove to our destination he was confirming with his dad that they were going to play video games, watch football and hook up with their friends. I gathered from their conversation that this was a special father and son outing that took place with some regularity. They discussed the chicken and the burgers and fries and what each might order for lunch when they got to the restaurant. The boy confirmed with his dad that there would be chips and salsa and that they'd be able to get some for their table. Chuy's is a great place. The armosphere is festive, southern California surfer decor. There are TVs for watching sports and an outside patio. There is actually a Chuy's restaurant at either end of town. Chuy's East and Chuy's West. I've been fortunate to have been to both with various friends on several different occasions. Every time that I've gone, I have had a fantastic time and enjoyed the food.
The whole situation reminded me of when I was a little girl with my dad and he would take me out to get ice cream at Baskin Robbins when chores were done on Saturday afternoon. It made me feel good that people still go out of their way to create good memories and bonds with their kids.Being an Uber driveris great to be able to be there and witness such things in the making of people's lives.
