This gorgeous spot is one of my happy places on my son’s campus. I remember the first time I saw the expanse of green, moist after the rain when the sun just broke out of the clouds. The two trees you see behind the Bench were just a young ‘uns and have grown over the years. The bench is a recent addition. As one skirts this lawn of sorts and views it from the road that runs along its periphery, there’s a feeling of serenity and peace. The branches of trees along the road are like a curtain, swaying, to offer glimpses of the little heaven in the middle of the lawn. It looks inviting, no matter what the weather–in the height of summer, there are people sitting there under the scorching sun. During winter, it is just as lovely to sit there enjoying the sun’s warmth. Each time I visited, I’d want to walk to the middle and stand near the Tree. Somehow, I didn’t because walking on the grounds wasn’t really encouraged.
