A few weeks back, I took a trip to visit my good friend in the beautiful county of Cambridgeshire. 

Positioned on the River Great Ouse in Huntingdon is the beautiful country pub, The Brampton Mill. 

The pub/restaurant is a converted mill, and is filled with cosy interior with open log fires and an impressive dining area, plus stunning countryside exterior. 

We decided to take a trip into Huntingdon to see what The Brampton Sunday lunch was like and here is how it went…

Firstly, to go alongside our lunch we ordered a drink from the non-alcoholic section (rare indeed) and was delighted with our choice of Rhubarb and Rosehip Fizz. This light tipple contained Fitzpatrick rhubarb with a splash of rosehip fizz, soda and a wedge of lime (£2.95). 

Now those of you that know me will know, I never can resist cheese (luckily for me neither can most of my friends), so to begin the choice was easy; Box Baked Camembert. This was served alongside crushed hazelnuts, apricots, celery and suprema bocata bread (£10.95). The cheese was superbly served by our friendly waiter and we were stuffed to say the least. 

To finish off our lunch time dining experience though we opted for a Sunday roast, chicken with bread sauce and lemon and thyme stuffing wrapped in bacon. This was mouth-wateringly good and was accompanied by goose-fat roast potatoes, seasonal greens, honey-roasted carrots, an exceptionally large Yorkshire pud and a jug of gravy (£12.95). The only thing I didn’t conquer was the carrots, but I’m yet to find anywhere in the world that will tempt me by the orange enemy. 

I would highly recommend if you’re in Huntingdon to visit this country gem and experience their take on a traditional, English Sunday dinner.
