Welcome To The Weekend 8/30-9/2

Weekend!!!! This is a long weekend!!!! So, welcome to the weekend!

This weekend is an extra day longer!

Most get excited about that…..it makes no difference to me except that the ‘stock market’ is closed. I hate it when that happens!

Here’s The Weekend!!!

It’s a Holiday weekend here in America and…..when it comes to celebrating Holidays, there’s no place better than America.

I know some of my friends abroad may think that’s a bit uppity. Well, you haven’t experienced a Holiday in America. I, on the other hand have spent Holidays in your country. There’s no comparison.

It seems like during a Holiday in America people are afraid that they will run out of food and alcohol! So they cook in ‘grand abundance’ (on a scale that’s absurd, it will be eaten too!) and drink (particularly beer) like it’s the end of the world or no more was ever gonna be made. A glorious sight to see!

It’s Labor Day Weekend. Stores, restaurants and bars (oh, and Amazon too) will be having sales. Shopper’s will be going full steam ahead. Shop with caution! Especially around popular items and those that aren’t plentiful.

Labor Day in America is celebrated the first Monday in September. Labor Day honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to America. But you wouldn’t know that. It’s a day filled with bar-b-ques and booze. No one is watching TV unless there’s a sport of interest in the television.

Labor Day, like all the other American holiday’s is a BIG DEAL!!! (Without Fireworks)

I Love Quotes:

“I simply wake up every morning a better person than when I went to bed.” – Sidney Poitier

“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t.”
― Steve Maraboli

“Only create associations with positive affinities. Make this a rule of life and you will benefit more than from all the therapy in the world.”—-Robert Greene

Something Interesting……

Artifacts of stone tools and animal bone fragments found in Idaho dating back about 16,600 years represent what may be the oldest evidence of humans in the Americas!!!

This is a BIGGIE!!!

This pre-dates the account of Adam and Eve!!! (Just joking, maybe….I don’t know nor am I gonna check it out.)

Some place called “Cooper’s Ferry” along the Salmon River in western Idaho near the town of Cottonwood.

The Weekend

They’ve done that fancy ‘carbon dating’ thing they do and viola(!) 16,600 years old!! I can seem now pointing to the output data….”It says it right here!!! 16,600 years old!!!

I like this sort of stuff. It teaches us that we still have a lot to learn. Every time something is boasted with confidence, hang on there’s likely to be some evidence in the near future that will prove otherwise.

Here’s a lift from the article published by Reuters August 29, 2019: Based on this evidence, people first lived at the site, which was situated south of the continental ice sheets present at the time, between about 16,600 and 15,300 years ago and returned to live there multiple times until about 13,300 years ago, Davis added.

Discoveries like this is ‘more than meets the eye’. Check it out for yourself.

My Experience

For a while now, I’ve been disappointed in myself. Why? Well, I Love music, I love playing music, and I love writing music. I’ve got a good ear and an excellent sense of melody. I feel I’m talented, but have been a ‘wasted talent’.

Since recording my 1st CD some 7 or 8 years ago the follow up has always been in the works. Things have gotten in the way. What things? Everything and anything that I’d allow……creative excuses.

It has been my greatest life disappointment. And it goes much deeper than that recent of history. My love for music dates back to Elvis, Little Richard, The Everly Brothers, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, and Chuck Berry.

Then came The Beatles and my life was full of hope, love and a drive.

For me, that drive was not nurtured by my parents….no encouragement. My parents chose a much different path of training up their child which I won’t endeavor to cover here…..but, I was supposed to go to work at a local chemical plant for my share of 40 plus years as my dad did.

The Weekend

That didn’t fit my fancy.

Fast forward to now. At the ending portion of my life story, now is the time to live that out. I’ve busied myself over the past couple of weeks reacquainting myself with my musical instruments, practicing and writing again. Yesterday I included some singing…..it’s clear that I will require some serious vocal exercising.

I’ll be updating this portion of the blog periodically.

That’s it for this weekend……

Have a happy and safe Holiday all!

Peace, love, and beaches,

John
