2017 In Review

Sorry this is late. I got sick as soon as the year started. Still sick.

1. What did you do in 2017 that you’d never done before?
Visited Mexico

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
2017 sucked. That is all.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Aunt Mary did. MY extended family isn’t really close to me.

5. What countries did you visit?
Besides living in the US, I got to go to Mexico this year. I went on a cruise, with my sister, and we stopped at Cozumel. We went to the San Gervasio ruins for our excursion. Sure, the bugs bit us (well, Nicki got it a lot worse than me), but it was fun.  We shared some tacos at the ruins so we can say we had real Mexican food.  As we left, our bus broke down.  Our tour guides played along with the tour group having fun about the whole situation.  Before we went back to the boat, we also stopped at a beach.  The waters were too rough to get into the water, but it was nice to see the beautiful waters.

6. What would you like to have in 2018 that you lacked in 2017?
Membership into all the genealogical societies.

7. What dates from 2017 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 4th and 5th were pretty rough. I had a nervous breakdown.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Surviving this year.

9. What was your biggest failure?
My mental breakdown.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
See the post on my nervous breakdown.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Nothing I can brag about this year.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Nothing really this year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, bills, bills.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Just the cruise to Mexico and Key West.

16. What song will always remind you of 2017?
I don’t have a song for this year.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Sadder
older and wiser? Both
thinner or fatter? About the same. I need to return to the gym.
richer or poorer? Poorer.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Travel

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Work

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Sleeping, working on my family tree, and then going over to my sisters for dinner and board games.

21. Question #21 is in a black hole.

22. Did you fall in love in 2017?
NO.

23. How many one-night stands?
Big fat negative.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Didn’t really get into one.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
My once favorite singer of all time. I knew he had an asshole side to him, but after what he did back in January 2017, I had enough.  He’s become an asshole 24/7.  He can claim it’s he’s just not giving a shit anymore at his age, but the venom that spews to those that dare even question him is horrible.  I don’t need that negativity in my life. Be gone.

26. What was the best book you read?
Didn’t really read one.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Nothing this year.

28. What did you want and get?
A cruise!

29. What did you want and not get?
Peace, love, harmony, and a diamond ring.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Wonder Woman.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Let’s not talk about it. Ok, a nice quite dinner at my sister’s house.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More travel? No bills!

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2017?
One big fucking mess.

34. What kept you sane?
The want to stay away from the nut hut again.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Probably the mess that is the FBI and the dossier stuff. Hate Trump all you like.  It’s fine.  However, if we start eroding civil liberties to bring down politicians we don’t like, like illegal wiretaps, then the whole structure of our law enforcement is in trouble.  If they can get away with this against Trump, what’s not to say they can’t turn it back on you.  I wish the anti-Trump people could put aside their hate for one moment and plug in any other American into the same spot. If it’s wrong for anyone else, then it’s wrong, period. Then again, that just be my strong sense of justice and wanting to see things in black and white talking.

37. Who did you miss?
My mother, as always.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
There were so many!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2017:
I can survive and don’t keep a girl from her restless legs pills.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone
What doesn’t kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn’t mean I’m over ’cause you’re gone
