Le Labo City Exclusives Discovery Set

Le Labo City Exclusives Discovery Set

Le Labo sent me the City Exclusives Discovery Set. All opinions are of my own.

After falling in love, HARD, with Le Labo this year, I have been anxiously waiting for the City Exclusives scents to drop online and in their boutiques. That time is now and it happens only once a year! I was fortunate enough that Le Labo sent me their Discovery Set to explore their top 5 scents but before I get to that, let’s talk City Exclusives.

11 Exclusive Scents

There are 11 exclusive scents from 11 different cities that Le Labo has a boutique in. The scents and their respective cities are:

Tokyo – Gaiac 10

New York City – Tubereuse 40

Los Angeles – Musc 25

Paris – Vanille 44

Amsterdam – Mousse De Chene 30

London – Poivre 23

Dallas – Aldehyde 44

Chicago – Baie Rose 26

Moscow – Benjoin 19

San Francisco – Limette 37

Dubai – Cuir 28

Typically, you can only buy these scents from their respective cities meaning, it’s an expensive habit you probably don’t want to indulge in if you want to collect them all. Of course, how lovely would it be to take a trip to London for Poivre 23 or to fly out to Tokyo to take a sniff of Gaiac 10? Count me in if my bank account allows! But luckily for us, once a year, these exclusive scents can be found in all Le Labo boutiques around the world and online. So, if you’re curious to smell Dubai’s exclusive scent but don’t have plans to visit Dubai in the near future, make sure to stop by Le Labo to purchase a sample during the month of August and September!

Can’t decide what scent to try? The Discovery Set is the perfect answer to your problems. The City Exclusive Discovery Set comes with Le Labo’s top 5 most loved scent from the collection. They are: Tokyo’s Gaiac 10, New York City’s Tubereuse 40, Los Angeles’ Musc 25, Paris’ Vanille 44, and Amersterdam’s Mousse de Chene 30. Come September, you will be able to purchase a full size bottle! So use August and September to figure out which scent you want to purchase a full bottle of!

Verdict

My two favorite scents from the set would be: Gaiac 10 and Tubereuse 40. I thought that I would be slightly bias towards Tokyo’s Gaiac 10 given my love for Japan but the scent is lovely! It’s not as woody as I thought it would be. For Tubereruse 40, I have a strong love for tuberose so of course, this scent would be top on my list!

Vanille 44 has a very pleasant vanilla scent. Although it’s lovely, I’m not sure if I could wear it well. Musc 25 and Mousse de Chene 30 scents seem to be clean but rather too masculine for me. I think these two scents would be lovely on Charles!

One of my favorite scents from Le Labo’s permanent collection is Lys 41; with notes of jasmine, tuberose, lily, woody, musks, and vanilla it’s almost similar to Tubereuse 40 but what sets Tubereuse apart from Lys 41 is the citrus notes in it (bergamot, tangerine, and orange flower). If you love citrus, Tubereuse 40 would be perfect but I love, love the vanilla notes in Lys 41.

That said, Gaiac 10 would be my favorite scent from the set but after reading the notes for Aldehyde 44, Dallas’ exclusive scent (narcissus, jasmine, tuberose, musks, and a hint of vanilla), I may have to swing by Le Labo to get a whiff of it!

Have you tried the Le Labo City Exclusives Scents?
