Peace instead of reunification

It’s true that the conflict on the Korean Peninsula, on the surface may appear similar to that of West Germany.

Yes South Korea even has a Reunification Minister, and latest development in ongoing negotiations has improved inter-Korean relations significantly to the point that President Moon and Kim Jong Il mutually agree neither wishes for continued US military presence.

Younger generations of South Koreans, actually fear reunification with North because South Korea’s economy would be weakened basically affecting all levels of society negatively.

After the Korean War both Korea’s has developed moving further away from each other. North Korea still uses the same langauge as they did prior to the war.

The separated families still wishes for reunification, to finally be reunited with family members but those numbers are fast decreasing.

Instead of reunification it seems easier to actually try to promote peace instead of an actual reunification.

The reason for that is partly due to the fact that the Korean Peninsula geographically is located in South East Asia which mesns that their society has a high context culture were focus lies on the community instead of individual.
