Recently, I was at Smores to check out US Fries Fiesta 2017 special creations. Smores is located at the Mezzanine of Tropicana City Mall and it’s a very unique and original dining experience.
Before I get into the US Potato inspired dishes, let me show you what Smores got its name. It is actually a traditional American camp-fire treat consisting of roasted marshmallows in between two pieces of Graham crackers and chocolate. Well, Smores the restaurant has managed to recreate this tradition indoors in a very ingenius manner in this custom made box, real charcoal, using our popular cream crackers and strawberries instead of chocolate to reduce the sweetness but add a tangy sourness to it.
The result? Genius. This will be a memorable and awesome experience for city dweller diners who want to get a feel of DIY campfire atmosphere without having to pack that tent and go into the wilderness.
Now back to the main dish of this Sidewinder US Potato Salmon. Now I love Salmon but not everyone can cook it tenderly and maintain the sweetness of the flesh. I am delighted to report that in this dish, the Salmon came out PERFECT.
What is even more perfect is how the Sidewinder Fries mix elegantly with the Salmon. It is my first time trying Sidewinder Fries and it’s definitely very unique in look and texture that gave me a one-of-a-kind experience.
Another unique creation by Chef Candy of Smores is ths US Crisscross Waffle. Potato and Dessert? Now that is a first for me. At first look, I did wonder which part is the US Potato, until I realised the waffle is actually crisscross fries, covered in Cinnamon.
It resulted in a sweet yet savoury dish just nice for us dessert lovers who might be trying to cut off sugar.
Overall, I’m thankful to US Potatoes for producing healthy and high quality to add to new and amazing dishes. Also, Smores is a really nice bar and restaurant for families and friends. I’ll leave you with some amazing interior pics that I thought was really neat.
