(Non)Eclipse

Yesterday, my friend called me in the morning asking if I had anything to do. I told her I didn't, and she informed me that I did now. I asked her what she meant, and she explained that there would be a lunar Eclipse that night. Of course I got excited and told her I would look up the best place in town to see it from.

As I was surfing the internet, it became apparent that there would be no lunar eclipse. As a matter of fact, the next total eclipse wouldn't be until December. The only thing eclipse related that was happening that day was a soccer game (Sonoma Eclipse) that started at six-thirty (the same time she said the lunar eclipse was starting). Not to mention, the fog would be in by seven.

So I tried to call her back, to tell her that there was no eclipse. She wouldn't listen (typical of this particular girl) and told me to stop trying to bail on her.

So we met up at the baseball park, spread out a blanket, and waited. The moon moved a hands-length in the time we were there. Then fog came in so thickly that I couldn't make out Venus anymore. She got in a bit of a mood, then we went back to her place to vent on Tetris 64.

I had forgotten that I was really bad at Tetris. I got progressively better over the next five hours, my best score being 52 lines, a lifetime personal best.

All in all, not a total waste of time.
