Healthy Cookies: an Oxymoron?

People think I don’t eat enough but on a normal day, I most likely eat more than an average person, just spread out throughout the day. Plus, I try to go to the gym every day which helps lower the total calorie intake at the end of the day. As many of you, I sometimes get these unhealthy cravings for cookies especially Chocolate Chip cookies (which obviously got worse when I lived like right next door to arguably but literally the best Cookie shop in the world, Levaine’s in NYC- if you weren’t informed- now you do. just search it up). It really doesn’t help that I have an extremely sensitive stomach which is basically allergic to everything except for things that are tasteless such as cabbage, broccoli, chicken breast, all without strong seasoning (can you tell how exciting my life is?). So you can imagine how long it must have taken me to experiment and discover the stuff I can actually eat and not have a problem especially when it comes to relatively healthy snacking. And here we are- the winner… !! Yes, it’s the famous Complete Cookie by Lenny and Larry (Okay, I have no idea who they are). I first discovered them at a deli near work when I lived in NYC. Note that this is a very hipster area where all the “cool” people from all over the world hang out in their Lululemon with their Cortado made by that handsome European barista (definitely not Starbucks) every morning. Like, you know, they eat kale salad for lunch every day and have gorgeous skin and fabulous shoes and stuff. At first, I was like, hmm what could this possibly be? A protein bar made into a form of a cookie that tastes like an eraser with fake chocolate chips? Or is this a regular cookie with the same amount of sugar and carbs, just a marketing gimmick? No eggs, No soy, No dairy, No GMO, vegan.. hmm.. so what is it made of?!? I had so many questions, guys. Then enter my coworker who literally knows everything about everything. Like you know, your go-to person for everything fitness and protein powder. So one day he receives a package from Amazon and it’s full of these cookies in different flavors. Being the stubborn old woman that I am, I resisted despite his offer until the day came when I became starving with nothing, absolutely nothing to eat in the office. So I dig through the box to discover a cookie in a pink wrapper which said, “Birthday Cake” flavor.

Hmm yes, I spent half my childhood in Korea so I absolutely had no idea what “flavor” that was until I took a bite of it, and honestly, I still am uncertain what it’s supposed to be, but it really wasn’t as bad as I thought. Okay, so it still has a good amount of sugar and carbs but the protein content makes up for it.. I mean, at 180 calories, 50 calories from fat per serving, it really isn’t bad for a big fat cookie that actually tastes like the real one. I don’t do coffee everyday but when I do, I sometimes pair my latte with this cookie (btw, the only flavor I buy is the Chocolate Chip one, link below), and it’s perfect. It not only tastes good, it satisfies my craving for sweets so if you are looking for a snack that’s not completely bad, I say give this a try. I always try to have some in my bag or somewhere just in case my random craving attacks me out of nowhere.

I need to try this flavor!!! So obsessed with coconut these days.
