How to Save for a Wedding

1. You and your partner should start setting aside a portion of your paycheck.

2. Set aside a coin jar that you both can drop your loose change in.

3. Open up a high-yielding savings account (even though right now the percentages are 1%) because it beats regular savings accounts that offer .2% interest.

4. Set aside your tax refund.

5. Set aside your end of year bonuses.

6. If you moonlight, save that money for the wedding fund.

7. After you've paid all your bills that your paycheck needs to cover and you're close to getting your next one, add whatever money is left over in your checking account and put it into your savings.

8. Use all cash gifts that you receive throughout the year for your wedding fund.

9. If you have a rewards credit card, use the points to get cash back and save it.

10. Start as early as possible because these days our parents are not as involved in paying for our weddings.

11. Find other ways of getting more money: sell old things on craigslist or ebay, offer your skills for money, offer your services.

12. Have a wedding donation fund if you don't feel bad for asking your friends/family.
